Who we are

Our vision is to see a healthier, more resilient river corridor that is appreciated and enjoyed by all communities of the national capital region.

The Upper Murrumbidgee Demonstration Reach (UMDR) is a partnership of regional stakeholders who are working together to protect and improve the health of the upper Murrumbidgee River to benefit native fish and community well-being. The UMDR provides an overall vision and clear goals for protecting and improving the health of the upper Murrumbidgee River through actions that address major threats and improve river health in a coordinated and strategic way.

The focus area for the UMDR is 320km of the upper Murrumbidgee River between Tantangara and Burrinjuck Dams as shown in the map below.

Key partners of the Upper Murrumbidgee Demonstration Reach include Bush Heritage Australia, the ACT Government, Upper Murrumbidgee Waterwatch, the Australian River Restoration Centre and the University of Canberra. We also work closely with Local Land Services and NSW Fisheries on many projects.

Working together with our catchment’s First Nations communities, recreational fishers, all river users, landholders and the wider community is also key to our work.
