Fishing clubs and events

Looking after our rivers and native fish species benefits everybody.  If you like fishing, why not join your local fishing club or just join in one of their fishing events?  Some of the local fishing clubs with which the UMDR has been working include:

The Capital Region Fishing Alliance(CRFA)-  The CRFA is the peak body for local fishing clubs in the region.  The CRFA is a partner of the UMDR and we are working together to find ways to better manage carp and protect native fish species in the region.  For information and to contact go to the CRFA's website

The Alpine Hotel Anglers Club- Cooma area.  Held the 2015 Cooma Monaro Carp Comp in conjunction with Bredbo and Numeralla Fishing clubs to remove carp from our rivers and target carp hot spots.  Next event- TBA. Contact: Michael- 0412 657 742

Bredbo Fishing Club- Bredbo area.  Holds an annual carp comp to remove carp from the Bredbo and Murrumbidgee Rivers in the Bredbo area.  Next carp comp- Australia Day long weekend.   Contact: Kathleen- 0407 085 943

Numeralla Fishing Club- Numeralla area. Holds an annual mud marlin festival to remove carp from the Numeralla River- date TBA.  Carrying out projects to restore fish snags along the Numeralla River.  Contact: Brett- 0427 419 177

The Canberra Fishermans Club- Canberra area.  Holds the Canberra Carp Comp every year in autumn to raise funds for native fish stocking in Canberra lakes - date TBA.  For news and to contact go to the CFC's website
